Brand imagery overview

Bold, positive and courageous – the Territory spirit is built on the ability to stand alone and our imagery should reflect this attitude.

The use of imagery should be a reflection of the spirit of the Territory. It should show an attitude rather than an individual. It is a feeling that comes from having the courage to stand alone and look the world in the eye. All images used should represent this passion and what makes being a Territorian different and proud.

Big skies, plenty of space, larger than life characters. These all capture what the Territory stands for. Also think about Territory colours – think about the colours of the Territory itself: the green of the Top End, the red of Central Australia, the purple of the MacDonnell Ranges, the clear blue of the sky, the grey and pink anger of an approaching thunderstorm.. Use your surroundings to position your subject as part of the Territory wherever possible.

Use natural light to emphasise the authenticity of the image and to bring out the beautiful Territory colours. Avoid digital manipulation to achieve special effects; it’s not the Territory way. The Territory way is real, authentic and natural.

Images should always be positive, not negative. Don’t show images of houses burning down but of houses being reconstructed. Don’t show the devastation of a cyclone or flood without a positive twist. Scare tactics are out, to be replaced with positive assistance.
